Estimate a monthly housing cost
Enter a purchase price and your own assumptions. The result adds monthly taxes, insurance, HOA dues, and mortgage insurance to principal and interest.
Explore a price from your budget
Start with a total monthly housing amount you would feel comfortable paying. This is a personal budget estimate, not a lending limit.

What these estimates include
Principal and interest are calculated as a fixed monthly payment over the selected term. The total also includes the property tax and insurance figures you enter, plus monthly HOA dues and mortgage insurance. HOA dues may be paid separately from a mortgage bill. The budget calculator holds your entered taxes and insurance fixed as the estimated home price changes, so check the real property’s costs before relying on a result.
These tools do not include utilities, maintenance, closing costs, prepaid items, or any lender review of income, assets, debts, credit, or the property. For help interpreting your numbers, see how to think about affordability or the first-time buyer checklist.
